Retinal Thickness Analyzer

The retinal thickness analyzer (RTA) is a tool used to assess the health of your retina and optic nerve. The RTA scans the back of your eye with a special laser. The measurements taken and interpreted into a "map" on a computer. These images allow your retinal specialist to detect any disease affecting the retina and optic nerve in earlier stages or to better monitor any known disorders.

This procedure is non-invasive and only requires your eyes to be dilated. You simply place your chin on the chin rest while the machine scans your eye. The evaluation usually lasts less than ten minutes. The comprehensive information gathered by the scan enables your doctor to determine proper treatment options early.
